Consortium

The EASY-RES consortium consists of 5 universities, 1 industrial SME, 3 DSOs, 1 TSO and 1 SME acting as dissemination and exploitation manager. The partners inside the consortium have joined after meeting specific requirements related to the foreseen project results and objectives. In addition to the specific skills, the consortium spreads over 6 different EU countries.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki participates with the Department of Electrical Energy of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Apart from project coordination, AUTH is the leader of WP1 and WP3, while also contributing to all other WPs, particularly in the development of the new DRES/BESS functionalities, the control algorithms and simulation models.

Universität Passau

Universität Passau leads WP4 and is specifically involved in all research activities related to ICT. Using its lab infrastructure, the developed communication among the various devices and the central ICA and μG controllers as well as the secure data handling will be tested. UNI PASSAU will also be involved in WP1 and WP2 to ensure successful ICT integration and co-development of voltage optimization strategies.

Universidad de Sevilla

Universidad de Sevilla leads WP2 and WP5 and is also involved in all WPs, particularly in the development of simulation models, voltage regulation algorithms and business model development. Additionally, using their lab infrastructure a large number of tests will be performed on emulated MV and LV distribution grids according to the CIGRE benchmarks.

TU Delft

TU Delft leads WP6. Using the installed RTDS infrastructure, it will carry out the respective lab tests. It will also be involved in other WPs, where simulation models and converter control functionalities are developed. It will also be involved in the development of business models.

Lancaster University

Lancaster University together with UNI PASSAU will be largely involved in WP4. Its main focus is the provision of as secure and resilient ICT infrastructure that optimally interfaces with the DRES. It will also provide expertise in the data processing, accounting and optimization decision making. Additionally, it will be involved in the specifications for the monitoring, registration and communication of the various AS at each DRES/BESS.

Independent Power Transmission Operator SA

Independent Power Transmission Operator as a TSO, will be involved in all technical WPs, particularly consulting on the development of metrics, inertial and PFR requirements from the DRES and whole ICAs, in the specification of the required accuracy and complexity of the equivalent ICA dynamic models. ADMIE will also contribute in the reforms of the market regulatory framework.

Elektro Gorenjska, podjetje za distribucijo električne energije, d. d.

Elektro Gorenjska is a DSO with large experience in EU funded projects and will also contribute in the reform of the grid-codes. They will consult in the development of the dynamic ICA models as well as on the deployment of the ICT infrastructure within the ICAs. They will also provide representative distribution grid layouts and measured load profiles at the LV and MV level, as well as frequency deviations at the connection point with the transmission system.

Stadtwerke Landau a.d. Isar

Stadtwerke Landau an der Isar is a DSO responsible for a grid with 88% RES penetration. Their experience with such high RES
penetration will contribute in the development of the control algorithms for the LV μGs and MV ICAs. They will also contribute in the reform of grid codes and investigations of new business models as well as in the quantification of the new AS provided by the DRES/BESS that can be traded by them in the reserve market. They will also provide representative distribution grid layouts and measured load profiles, as well as reactive power exchanges with the transmission system.

Stadtwerk Haßfurt GmbH

Stadtwerke Haßfurt is DSO with very high degree of smart meter penetration in the distribution grid. Additionally, their grid offers a mixture of DRES. They will contribute by providing representative distribution grid layouts and measured load profiles and will also contribute in the reform of grid codes and investigations of new business models, as well as in the quantification of the new AS provided by the DRES/BESS that can be traded by them in the reserve market.

FENECON GmbH

FENECON is an industrial SME with very large experience in electric storage manufacturing, operation and control. They are also the founders of OpenEMS, an open source energy management software (www.openems.io). FENECON will provide technical expertise on the battery behavior under steady-state and transient conditions and will contribute to the control algorithms. Furthermore they will be involved in the development of the new ancillary services that will be provided by the storage systems and will provide the required storage equipment in the lab tests.

Bayern Innovativ

Bayern Innovativ (which legally took over previous beneficiary Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern in April 2020) leads WP7 and will contribute their substantial experiences to the dissemination and exploitation actions of the project. The team will coordinate all technical, scientific and wider audience dissemination of the project outcomes with the support of the research and technical partners. They will also contribute to the development of the exploitation plan for the project results.
