George P. Papaioannou, PhD studied Mechanical Engineering (energy concentration) at the Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ, U.S.A (BEng and MEng), and obtained his PhD from the University of Patras, Greece. He also studied Social Sciences (Labor Economics) at the London School of Economics (LSE), Management in Henley Business School, U.K and Strategic Modeling and System Thinking at the London Business School, U.K. He held various engineering and management positions in Greek companies, accumulated almost thirty-five years of experience in the Power Industry and has taught in colleges and technological institutions in Greece. He is currently the Director of the newly established Research, Technology & Development Division of ADMIE SA. He is also an adjunct researcher at the Center of Research and Analysis of Nonlinear Systems (CRANS) of the University of Patras and he is the author of two textbooks and of a number of peer-reviewed papers in leading scientific journals, focusing on the modelling of energy markets and power systems.
